There's a Fox in These Hills
By John Nelson

The fox in the snow reminded me of a scene from the Tomkin book from when I was a kid. It was a beautiful animal and a beautiful scene. A photo is attached. It's not great, but hopefully you can get a feel for the scene. Those of you with domestic animals might not welcome this visitor, but the view was just mesmerizing.

Where do you live?

Sorry, I live in Westmoreland Hills (hence the title) in south Bethesda near the DC border and the Crescent Trail. I've seen him twice more since this night.

John: We've seen her too -- in another yard near your house. She is quite large and very beautiful and I believe she was accompanied by a mate. Sharon

My home backs onto Martin Luther King Park. Every year I enjoy watching a red fox and her litter in the Spring. The pups are black when they are born, and they play like kittens. It seems that they turn red over night and begin to look like foxes.
